Land Restoration - Remove Invasive Weeds and Restore with Native Plants

Comprehensive land improvement project focused on eliminating buckthorn, garlic mustard weed and providing native ground cover.

Project Overview

This project focused on the removal of buckthorn and other invasive plant species from a hillside to restore ecological balance and improve long-term stability of the slope. Dense infestations were carefully cleared to reduce competition with native vegetation, improve sunlight penetration, and prevent further spread of invasive species downslope. Selective removal methods were used to minimize soil disturbance on the hillside, helping to reduce erosion while preparing the site for native plant regeneration. The result is a healthier, more resilient landscape with improved drainage, enhanced visual appeal, and a stronger foundation for future native ground cover and tree growth.

Project Outcomes

Following the removal of invasive vegetation, native grasses, shrubs, and ground covers were established to anchor the soil, improve water absorption, and reduce runoff during heavy rain events. These native plantings not only enhance long-term slope stability but also promote biodiversity and resilience by supporting local wildlife and adapting naturally to the site’s conditions. Overall, the hillside was transformed into a sustainable, low-maintenance landscape designed to remain stable and visually appealing for years to come.
